Anatomy of a defeat - dec 2014.

The Anatomy of a defeat!

Oz won won or India lost- meaningless question!
Oz had to place all their faith in Indinas' infinite ability to mess up and as usual we didn't disappoint! They weren't sure about bowling India out on a flat track, but had no choice but to 'depend' on India to present the win!

Oz knew they had to make allowance for some individual brilliance from a handful of Indians, but they should not cost them the match....a delicate balance indeed. Once that is done, Indians cant careless about the team result! The media and the public will bask in that glory and nothing  much will be done about the final result. Keeping them in a ' happy zone' individually is the best bet for the rest of the series and Oz has done that to perfection.

Test cricket is usually won by bowlers by taking 20 wickets; and batsmen win one day matching with good chase. Now India want to chase and win - yes can be done, but history and statistics don't back you much! So had india won - however hard i wanted that to happen - would not have been Cricket in its true spirit! Take just 12 wickets in a match and expect to win? Some poetic justice , I guess!

Finally losing a match in Oz is no big deal; but Indians losing to spin is silly!
